Pink and cuddly. Best friend to Nella and trusted travel companion. Likes cuddles, sleeping, swimming and flying. Dislikes having his beak chewed and being hurtled out of a moving pram.
Short for Marinella. Arrived into the world on 25th November 2017 changing her mummy’s life forever. Likes milk (on demand please), kisses, cuddles, In the Night Garden (special favourites include Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy), splashing in baths and wearing no clothes. Dislikes being dressed, having her nappy changed and waiting for food.
The ‘me’ is me; Nella’s mummy, caregiver and general dogsbody to Nella. I’m just here for the ride so I thought I may as well set up a mummy blog to keep me sane whilst attempting to navigate this bonkers journey of motherhood.
I don’t know if anyone else is as crazy as me and has made up stories about all their children’s toys but Andy and I seem to have on-going stories about Nella’s toys. To name but a few; we have a pirate rat, a muffin baking piggy, a very posh Gorilla… and then of course there’s Flamingo who has become part of the inspiration for the title of this blog. Although this blog is really a ‘mummy’ blog, I thought I’d do the odd blog piece from the perspective of Flamingo as a bit of fun and a way to break up some of the monotony of home life. Check out the ‘Flamingo’ section to read more!
Flamingo, Nella & Me is my story told in a series of blog posts with a few rants here and there about our daily life. I do not claim to be an expert on anything, this is just me and my take on being a mum.
More About Me:
I am married and live with my husband Andy in Wimbledon. I’m originally from Dorset and still enjoy spending time on the coast.
Having worked at the magazine publishing company Condé Nast for 12 years, I decided to opt for voluntary redundancy whilst pregnant. I took the money and ran from the only ‘real’ job I’ve ever had. I am an unemployed, full-time mother which still feels terrifying to write down or say aloud!
I love all things health and fitness despite the ever-growing challenge of trying to fit exercise around life with Nella. However I’m far from virtuous, I also live to eat! It’s a full-time hobby for me and I like to try new restaurants here and abroad. I love to travel; anywhere hot and sunny is my ideal.
I began my career at Condé Nast in 2005 and I worked on various titles throughout my time at Vogue House; predominately in advertising sales for House & Garden. In my spare time I have written for publications including House & Garden (The Travel Guide & HOUSE), Brides (The Honeymoon Guide), Hip & Healthy and Sheerluxe.
